During the Middle School Boys´ Volleyball season, the team needs someone to help lead them, and that’s where Donnie Bigelow comes in. Donnie, 8th grade, said he. “Enjoys being the captain and enjoys leading the team to victory.” They have won 1 out of 5 games in the season so far, but they’re already sure they made the playoffs.
Donnie joined just to have a sport he could play at Mesa. Now he is the team captain. And enjoys hanging out with his friends and helping the team. He really looks up to the Coach of the Volleyball team, Tan Nguyen. He has helped Donnie in many ways, like persevering when discouraged. Although he is the team captain, there are some challenges along the way. “Playing other teams that are very good is very challenging to beat them,” Donnie stated during our interview.
As discouraging as it can be at times, the team stays determined and continues trying their hardest. Donnie says, “Personally, trying to beat really good teams is very challenging.” Although it is challenging, as he stated, he has faith in his team.
