Costa Mesa’s Middle School Boys Volleyball had a home game on Monday, November 6, 2023, playing against Thurston. Donnie Bigelow, Luke Hobbis, and Jackson Gregory were some of the stars of the game, according to other teammates. Donnie Bigelow brought the game back by serving three straight aces. He made the crowd “go crazy” and “hyped up” the sidelines and his teammates. Although the team didn’t win the game against Thurston, Mesa moved on to the playoffs and played Dwyer on November 14, 2023, in their home gym (an away game).

On November 14, 2023, Dwyer won against Mesa. Dwyer won both sets, with Mesa at a score of 22 and Dwyer at 25. The second set was Dwyer with 25 and Mesa with 12. A star player from Dwyer, Ezrah Brown (#12), made it difficult for Mesa to get their plays. The star players from Mesa were Luke Hobbis and Bryce Lo. Jack Kondo also made excellent saves from the ball hitting the ground. Donnie Bigelow made sets, which made it hard for Dwyer to get the ball, giving Mesa a couple of points. Overall, Luke Hobbis scored the most points for Mesa. Maximilian Weisshaar also had great finishes, making it hard for Dwyer to make it to the ball and block it. Despite the loss, the boys played a great game and finished their season strong.
