Need extra help with your assignments? The Learning Lab is a resource available to assist all students with subjects and homework that they may need additional help understanding, as well as more one-on-one explanations. The purpose of the Learning Lab is to support students who are struggling and could potentially fall behind in class. Learning Lab is a location where students are allowed to study, with additional support if needed. It provides a peaceful area to study if you don’t have a quiet place to get school work completed at home. It’s open from Tuesday through Thursday after school in the library from 3:45 pm until 4:30 pm. You may sign up with any of Mesa’s staff that are present.
There are many teachers available with knowledge in different subjects, such as math and English. Dr. Glassen can be found leading the Learning Lab. Ms. Camarena is an English teacher who is available to tutor and assist students. When asked about teachers’ roles in Learning Lab, she said, “Anything. [I can help with] English, Spanish and History. Mr. Torres or Ms. Whitney teach math,” Ms. Camarena explained.
Ms. Camarena described the Learning Lab like this: “The learning lab is a calm, peaceful environment, very peaceful; it’s a direct one-on-one. It’s a safe environment with no kids picking on other students.”
You may reach out to any of your teachers if you are interested in signing up or have further questions regarding the Learning Lab. Teachers and counselors can refer the Learning Lab to any student if additional support is needed.
The Learning Lab is a welcoming place for all students, should they need extra support. Costa Mesa Middle and High School encourages all students to do their best. If you feel you need additional help or are confused about a specific subject, don’t hesitate to ask. The Learning Lab is available for you!
