Anyone who wishes to tell a story or express something through movement can be a dancer, according to Mrs. Kaska. She encourages her class to do well in their daily stretches at the beginning of class as they prepare for their routine. They then move in pairs across the floor to perfect basic technique moves. Each and every year, her class tries each of the following dance types: Jazz, Social dance (including swing, disco, break-dance, tutt, and flash mob), Ballet, hip hop, Tap, Lyrical, musical theater, world dance (including Hula, West African, K-pop, Bollywood, and Irish Clog), choreography, and performance. She decided to become a dance teacher because she loves dancing and wants to share her passion with others.
Mrs. Kaska’s next dance performance will be on February 9, called “Dancing With The Teachers.” This is her tenth annual dance competition. During the dance competition, teachers compete in dance groups in hopes of being voted and crowned Mesa’s favorite dancer. In the meantime, Mrs. Kaska continues to teach her passion for dance.
