Drake has been involved in a beef with what is apparently the entire rap scene. Names have been thrown around like J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Metro Boomin, Rick Ross, 21 Savage, SZA, and Ja Morant. With all these people, it’s hard to understand where the beef comes from. In this article, we will explain exactly what the beef is and how it started.
The beef started with the release of Drake’s album “For All The Dogs” last year. The album contained a song, “First Person Shooter”, which talks about the “Big 3,” which argues that Drake, J. Cole, and Kendrick Lamar are the best rappers to exist. J. Cole continues to add to this by comparing himself to Muhammed Ali.
Earlier this month, Metro Boomin and Future released their album, “We Don’t Trust You.” The album features a song, “Like That,” featuring Kendrick Lamar. Kendrick’s verse called out the song “First Person Shooter.” The verse contains lines like, “First Person Shooter, I hope they came with three switches,” ”The big three…it’s just big me,” and “That’s a K with all these nines, he’s gon’ see pet cemetery.” (Referring to the name of Drake’s album, For All The Dogs)
On April 12, 2024, Future and Metro Boomin dropped their second album, “We Still Don’t Trust You.” This album has introduced several new people into the beef, such as The Weeknd, Lil Baby, A$AP Rocky, and most importantly, this album featured J. Cole. This came as a surprise, as J. Cole had made several comments on “First Person Shooter.”
On April 13, 2024, a diss track surfaced online. The song had called out Future, Kendrick Lamar, Metro Boomin, J. Cole, and Ja Morant. It specifically calls out the fact that Kendrick’s record label takes 50% of the revenue. The song also says other things such as, “I could never be nobody number 1 fan. The first number 1 I had to put it in your hand,” (which alluded to Future), “You ain’t in no big three, SZA got you wiped down, Travis got you wiped down, Savage got you wiped down,” “Maroon 5 need a verse you better make it witty. Then we need a verse for the Swifties,” and “Top say drop, you better drop and give ‘em fifty.“
Since all this went down, Kanye West has gotten involved because of his beef with Drake, which has been happening since 2018. Kanye has dropped a diss track on Drake and J. Cole while showing his support for Metro Boomin and Kendrick Lamar. Mav News is unavailable to comment on the situation at this time..
Drake claims this beef to be a “20v1” as everyone is against him. However, this is just another rap beef and we can only guess what will happen from here.
