As April comes to a close, Taylor Swift is releasing her 11th studio album. It is called The Tortured Poets Department. The album’s release is following her most recent breakup with ex, Joe Alwyn. Many speculate the album will be written about their relationship and breakup because of the release date, April 19, 2024. The 19th is important because that same day last year, 2023, Joe and Taylor’s breakup was announced.
Swift revealed that she has been working on the album since early 2022. Some believe that the album was inspired by the five stages of grief, denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. Taylor collaborated on two songs, “Fortnight (feat. Post Malone)” and “Florida!!! (feat. Florence and the Machines)” Swift has five versions of the album. Four of the albums, which are only available at Target, have bonus tracks. The bonus tracks are “The Manuscript,” “The Bolter,” “The Albatross,” and “The Black Dog.” At 2am on April 19, 2024, Taylor came out with a second album, The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology. This album added 15 songs to the original album. Songs on the newer version of the album include, “How did it end?”, “I hate it here,” and “The prophecy.”
The albums stream live on April 19, on Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, and YouTube Music. You can buy the physical album at Barnes & Noble, Walmart, Target, and a selection of other record stores.
Her albums were a massive success, breaking Spotify’s most pre-saved album record. Through heartbreak and discovering herself again, Taylor continues to wow the world. We can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!
