It has recently been announced that 371 99 Cent stores, nationwide, will be closing. This chain of stores isn’t making enough profit, and COVID-19 decreased the amount of their earnings. Thefts from these stores are common, which causes profit loss. Another factor is inflation, where things are more expensive to buy or sell. During COVID, people kept stealing, and they had lost nearly $4 billion across all locations. More and more people stopped going to 99 Cent stores as the prices went up, and they didn’t cost 99 cents anymore. When they announced that they were closing, people visiting specific locations noticed almost everything was gone. There were few items, such as various foods, drinks, candy, and a few toys. Let’s hope Dollar Tree doesn’t shut down, like the 99 Cent store did.
